Samarasekera and Horton (2014) – Prevention of Violence against Women and Girls – A New Chapter

Overview

This article is a comment on a series of five Lancet papers on prevention of violence against women and girls. The article outlines what the five papers focus on, namely: assessing the evidence base for prevention interventions; discussion of the health sector’s role in care and prevention; a case for the need for men and women to be involved in effective programmes; practical lessons from experience in settings worldwide; and a call for action with recommendations and indicators to track progress during the next 5 years (2015–2020).
